We say goodbye to our colleague, FMA advocate, and dear friend
Dear Members and Friends,
It is with a profound sense of loss and deep respect that we remember and honor Jerry Grose, who served with unwavering dedication on our board for over 11 years. Jerry joined the Federal Managers Association (FMA) driven by his strong commitment to making a meaningful difference for the federal workforce, advocating tirelessly for their rights and futures.
Jerry’s journey began in the Key Port area, where he grew up and graduated from Olympic High School in the class of 1982. After high school, he answered the call of service by joining the Navy. His career in the Navy was marked by his service on two fast attack submarines, and he took great pride in being called a submariner—pronounced with the special emphasis that reflected his profound connection to his role.
Upon retiring from the Navy, Jerry pursued further education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Pacific Lutheran University and a Washington State Teaching Certificate. His passion for education led him to teach at the Peninsula School District for seven years, where he earned a master’s degree and made a lasting impact on his students.
Jerry’s career continued with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), where he contributed significantly as the non-nuclear General Foreman for Shop 67 for five years. His leadership and expertise were evident in every aspect of his work, and he later transitioned to a zone manager role on the waterfront, where he continued to serve with dedication and excellence.
Jerry’s contributions to FMA were marked by his profound commitment, wisdom, and unwavering support. His work on our board was instrumental in advocating for the federal workforce and ensuring their voices were heard. His legacy is one of integrity, service, and an enduring commitment to making a difference.
As we reflect on Jerry’s remarkable life and contributions, we remember him not only for his professional achievements but also for his kindness, dedication, and the genuine care he showed to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Jerry’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May we honor his memory by continuing the work he so passionately supported and by cherishing the values he embodied.
With heartfelt condolences,
