I was born and raised in Kitsap County and am a 3rd generation PSNS employee. I graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1986 and hired into Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a Shop 56 Pipefitter Apprentice in 1987. As a 2nd year Apprentice I was moved into the Nuclear Program and graduated from the apprenticeship in 1991, after having been a week away from being RIF’d. I worked my way up through the ranks in Shop 56 to become the Nuclear Director in 2014 and am currently the Nuclear Assistant Project Superintendent on the USS Jimmy Carter Project.
While working for PSNS & IMF I married in 1996 and my wife and I have two wonderful kids, ages 17 and 19. My hobbies include camping, golfing, skiing and spending time with family and friends.
I have been an FMA member since 1999, when I first made supervisor and have been a supporter of the organization ever since. Admittedly, when I first joined FMA it was identified as a part of my responsibility as a supervisor but have grown to learn that it is much more than that. I have seen what FMA has done for our shipyard and the benefits it provides as a voice for our employee’s. Of particular interest to me are benefits, retirement and my future. A couple of my goals are to expand the newer shipyard managements knowledge of what FMA is all about and help them realize why FMA is important to our future and retirement.
