Steven Kyle Denton is assigned as the Shipyard Liaison to the Strategic War Room at Naval Sea Systems Command Industrial Operations Directorate (SEA 04), bringing over twenty years of supervisory and leadership experience across various disciplines and within public and private organizations.

At Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & IMF, Mr. Denton is the Production Transformation Manager for the 6,200-person, $700M production department, overseeing major improvements and innovations towards a digital future. His background includes leadership roles in private enterprises, academia, non-profits, and the federal government, demonstrating his capability to manage complex projects across disciplines.

Mr. Denton began his Civil Service career in the Shop 67 Electronics subsequently spending time embedded in Shop 38 Ordnance, Shop 51 Electrical, Shop 52 Calibration, and Code 290 Combat Systems Engineering, working across multiple projects supporting submarines, surface ships, inside shops, and aircraft carriers. He has served multiple times as corporate lead for the NAVSEA Electrical Community of Practice, founded the NAVSEA 04X Fiber Optics Program, and established the Production Transformation Office. He is also a recognized Navy Lead Champion by DONCIO and Naval Reactors, and a 2022 graduate of the Executive Development Program, PSNS&IMF Cadre 31.

Since 2018, Mr. Denton has taught leadership theory and practice at the graduate level and began his doctoral research at Gonzaga University, specializing in leadership, digital transformation, with an emphasis on global strategic studies, zero trust cybersecurity, data analytics, and AI. He is a non-profit executive serving on multiple boards, working with organizations focused on science, technology, public policy, and leadership.

Mr. Denton’s work and his teams have earned numerous accolades, including the Civilian Service Achievement Medal, accolades from the Seattle Federal Executive Board, the European Commission, and receipt of the NAVSEA Excellence Award, NAVSEA Commander’s Innovation Award, and a U.S. Patent for 3D-printed shipboard technology.

Mr. Denton graduated with a B.S. in Workforce Education from Southern Illinois University in 2015, an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in 2018, and an Executive Data Science Specialization from Johns Hopkins University in 2023. He is set to complete his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University and the Stanford University Digital Transformation Program in 2024.
